We love Star Taco and making tacos - and Smash Burgers! - and all the new things. But, Brian and I (Hi! Still Kate, here 😉), miss Star ⭐️ Diner. We've heard that a lot of our old customer-friends did, too – so we started doing "pop-ups." They have been well-received, so we decided to do them monthly.
Here's where we ran into some marketing / communication . . . hurdles. We'll call them "hurdles" 😂.
If we're going to do something so very different, but only one night a month, I need a way to find a way to communicate:
"This ONE night a Month –
NO Tacos, YES Finer Dining"
. . . I haven't totally figured that out yet – but I'm getting good suggestions! Reworking the design on my table-toppers and making a BIG poster for the sandwich board out front, stuff like that.
In the meantime, I went with "Third Thursday" because it's catchy and something the Downtown Marshall Association (of which I was once an exec. board member) once sponsored as a whole-town event. And, it's fitting – lots of folks who came to the town event also dined at Star ⭐️ Diner while they were in town for the music and such.
Thing is, it isn't a whole-town event now. (Apparently, I may have caused some confusion by calling our event a "Third Thursday Throwback" 🤦🏻♀️. Oops. 😬)
So, That's the story – we are open for Star 🌮 Taco Dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 5pm – 8pm. Every THIRD Thursday, we don't have tacos and we DO have old Star ⭐️ Diner entrees, table-service & reservations. Reservations cannot be requested via phone or email – the ONLY way to make a request is through the google form links (below).
